I've gone back and figured she could have been about 4 or 5 years old. Poor kid having to wear that outfit...[/quote]

Agree with that Kamilla..

As much as I love Crinolines, this looks so uncomfortable and yes kids were just tiny replicas of their parents..

The Crinolines I like are what Scarlett wore in GWTW..

When I was about 12 my aunt who owned a factory actually made me the Famous Green Dress Scarlett wore at the barbecue..

Modified of course.. All I did was Draw the desired object and my dear aunt made it..

Being an Artist I dressed eccentrically even at twelve years of age, lmao..

Could you elaborate please...

First a rudimentary comparison of both the pictures, since we have a Vermeer too on the same subject.

Firstly. Look at the position of the Artist in relation to his canvas

Now the viewer is standing in front of these master pieces. Velazquez appears to gaze at the viewer and Vermeer is showing his back. The canvases too. While the canvas of Velasquez is too large and is hidden from the viewer, the canvas of Vermeer is near visible to us. If one takes a close look, the blue feathers on the hat of the model are visible on the canvas of Vermeer. No such luck with Velasquez. ( to be continued)

Indi dear, I don't think these picture are clear enough to discuss the finer arts if you need your magnifying glass to see the feather on the hat lol.

Lol I spent much of my life doing this stuff. Glasses- magnified or not- i need only in court not but when it comes to archeology, Fedora and bull whip will get me through.
