I am new to all this, and have never even posted a message to a forum before (hope I actually click on the right icons to make this work!). I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with social dinner agencies, like Dinner For Six, etc?

I have attended such things for years - Sociable Singles, Single Gourmet and now A Table for Six. They are all fine. Go ahead

Have they matched you up with people that they personally matched, or do they just do it by age groups? Are they usually a fun night?

I would say that theyre a waste of money

Why? Did you have a bad experience with this? Am interested to hear about peoples' experiences with these agencies before I either invest/waste my money and time.

As you see illawarrior has been doing it for years,,
i wouldnt say it works

i went to one once years ago, all the people (women) there were very shy and not behaving naturally as they were in boxes and closed off to relaxed conversation,,
i believe that it would be ok to do it maybe twice, but after that change because if you meet the right person at one it shouldnt take multiple dinners to know if you hit it off,
But the organisers will want you to keep coming back, it is after all a business

I also dont believe that an outside source can match you up with anyone, according to a questionnaire etc, as there like resumes, everyone exaggerates on them.

If you want to get lucky, go to a nice bar with live music, accidently bump into the guy you like and start a conversation,, if theres no nice guy there, go to another bar
