*** Well... forty years is a long time. But, there must be someone that knows him,(If he's still alive???) If he was a good Football player as you said he represented Ireland then I sugest
you try (If you didn't already) Irish Football Federation,Australian Footbal Federation or FIFA the world house of Footbal. I'm sure they keeping all the records from the players who have nad played for the National squad,or for the local team. Good luck. ***
