WHATEVER HAPPEND TO DEAR OLD GRANNY ?

In the not to distant past.. I remember very well

Grandma's tended to their kniting.. and their cookies were just swell..

They were always at the ready when you neaded some advice..

And their sewing (I can tell you) was available.. and nice.

NOW: Granny scans the web for artwork.. too combine with cool sounds.

And to makes her special greetings.. she downloads graphics by the pound.

But Grandma's not deserted you..she dearly loves you still.

She thinks about you daily.. and you know she always will !

You haven't been forgotten..she keeps your photos handy

Right their on her website..where she thinks you look just dandy.

She is right there when you need her.. any time day or night.

when you cyber send your message ..it makes her eyes shine bright

She reformats her own hard drives..and speaks in RAMs and bytes.

And long, long after the sundown ..she's still working on her sites.

Yes her world's a very different place..there is no doubt of that.

She even gave up wearing her old favorite purple hat !

She's joined the electronic age..and it realy seems to suit her.

So dont expect the same old gal.. cause Grandma's gone "Computer"

I know that here in Canada getting old is not cool and sadly most people try to forget the elderly by putting them into homes so the State can take care of them, so dear old Granny over here is sitting alone in an old age home looking at the wall hoping that someone will stop by to say hello.

Very sad society we have become

Hi All

Yes it is sad many are considered "too much to handle".

Gone are the days of "The Waltons".....

However, I do know of various Retirement Villages that take pride in keeping their clients busy and happy. A lot of the Retirement Villages are concerned for their clients and are more aware of the seriousness of loneliness.

They provide varying activities and outings and for those that don't have regular visits from family and friends, are closely watched by the carers.

Whilst this may not be the same as having a close relative, at least they are having contact and bringing unity within the village be it staff, other clients, or volunteers.

*** Yes. It is verry sad.Thinking of it she was small thing but strict and fair. There was something for every kid in the family.
Like a peace of square white suger few weeks old, bud sweet.
She's long goon now, but the memories of her warm cuddles, and the shine in her eyes are ever present. As we are getting old, we don't know what we facing***

Nice post Luke...and quite a lot of sentiments therein...

Granny's are lovable and will always be so...it's just that life is treating their children in a different way now and they understand they can't change the way things are even if they wish they could. You know...The bigger WORLD is changing her small world.

Gone are the days when her children could stay at home for long durations, get into crazy chats, fight with her over little issues, feel the caress in her care. They have to be running and doing some stuff...which shall get them money, prestige and their partner (with whom they will be spending the rest of their lives). Granny knows this...and she lets them do it even when she knows that the kids once gone may never come back the same way. Well...that's sad but that's life i suppose.

In order to keep in touch with these kids she learns the modern world techniques...e-mails, webcam and chats and finds it better than sending letters and telephone which take more time. Well...she is adapting here...

Not many children prefer to wear her knitted stuff anymore...fashion you see has changed the kind of clothes they wish to wear. Grannys stuff does not make them look so cool. So there is nobody who actually would appreciate the amount of work that knitting involved and the love hidden therein.

Now I am getting touchy at this subject...so will leave it here..
